THE Republic of China Centennial Run will hit the road on July 17 to be held in an out-and-back course at the Davao Central High School.

William Lo Hung Tai, one of the directors of the Davao Filipino Chinese Cultural Foundation, said the event is being organized to celebrate the 100th year of China as a republic.

Tai and race director Vicente Uy of the Davao Sunday Runners Club were guests at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum, Thursday, at the Tower Inn.

We expect 1,700 runners in this event where all participants will have the chance to win raffle prizes. The grand prize will be a 32-inch LCD TV with home theater, a 5.2 cubic feet refrigerator and digital camera as second and third place prizes,” Uy said.

A microwave oven and a free trip to Hong Kong inclusive of a Manila-Hong Kong-Manila plane ticket also await the next two raffle winners.

Minor raffle prizes are also up for grabs.

Categories include male and female 10K, 5K and 3K.

Cash prizes of P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 will go to the first 10K finishers while their female counterparts will receive P2,000, P1,500 and P1,000 along with the male 5K top three runners.

The top three female 5K entries will pocket P1,500, P1,000 and P750 while prizes of P1,000, P750 and P500 will be awarded to the 3K first three finishers.
